Teenie Weenie Turtles - Ras Kutani
FRIDAY, MAY 25, 2012Whilst we are still a week away from officially opening Ras Kutani for the new season, it didn't stop this nest of turtles from saying hello to the big wide world. Having seen many hatchings over the past seasons, one never tires of these amazing natural events.
The tide was low, and the sun deep in the sky; ideal conditions for these hatchlings to make their way, uninhibited, down a cool sandy beach into the warm oceans which will be their home for years to come.
Green turtles feed, migrate and breed the length of the Tanzanian coast and further afield too, but the females, once they have reached sexual maturity, will return to this exact beach to lay their eggs and begin once again their circle of life.
We hope more nests will hatch over the course of this season, and invite all to come and stay with us to experience this priceless opportunity for yourselves.
